Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Uppo for using the Uppo app and this website. By creating an account you accept them.
Who we are
Uppo is provided by [TODO: legal entity name], [TODO: registered address], registration number [TODO: company registration number] (“Uppo”, “we”). You can reach us at [email protected].
The service
Uppo is a log for food and training. You talk to it, type to it or send it photos, and it records meals, workouts and notes in a timeline that you can edit. It can answer questions using your own entries.
Uppo uses artificial intelligence to understand what you send. We may change, add or remove features as the app develops.
Not medical advice
Uppo is not a medical device and does not give medical, nutritional or fitness advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
- Calorie and nutrition values are estimates. Estimates made from a photo or a spoken description can be wrong by a wide margin.
- Exercise entries, such as the machine, weight, sets and repetitions recognised from a photo or from your voice, can be wrong.
- Answers and suggestions are generated by AI and can be inaccurate or incomplete. Check anything that matters and correct entries that are wrong.
Talk to a doctor or another qualified professional before you change your diet or start a training programme, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or have a history of disordered eating. Do not use Uppo to manage a medical condition. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
You are responsible for the decisions you make using the information in the app.
Your account
- You must be at least [TODO: minimum age] to use Uppo.
- You sign in with Apple or with Google and are responsible for keeping that account secure.
- One account is for one person. The information you give about yourself should be accurate.
Subscriptions and billing
Using Uppo requires a paid subscription, except where the app says otherwise. The plans, what each one includes and the current prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Billing: subscriptions are sold and billed through the App Store with your Apple account or, where available, through Google Play with your Google account. We do not process your payment or see your card details.
- Automatic renewal: a subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial: if a plan comes with a free trial, the paid subscription starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that. The length of the trial is shown before you start it.
- Cancelling: you cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, not inside Uppo. The support page has the steps. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the store first.
- Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies, and refund requests go to them.
- Price changes: if the price of your plan changes, you are told in advance through the store and can cancel before the new price applies.
- Usage limits: plans can include limits, for example on daily voice minutes. The limits of your plan are shown in the app.

Your content
What you put into Uppo stays yours: your photos, your words and your entries. You give us permission to store and process that content only as far as needed to provide the app to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You can export your data and delete your account at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Uppo for anything unlawful, or upload content that is illegal or that violates someone else’s rights;
- upload photos or information about other people without their permission;
- try to access other users’ data, or probe, disrupt or overload the service;
- reverse engineer the app, or use automated means to access it or to extract data or model output from it;
- get around usage limits, share or resell your account, or use the app to build a competing service.
The app
Uppo, including its software, design and name, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes while these terms apply.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Uppo at any time and delete your account in Settings, or by following the steps on the account deletion page.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to export your data. If we stop offering Uppo altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
Availability
We work to keep Uppo running, but we do not promise that it will be available without interruption or free of errors. The app depends on third-party services, including AI models, that can change or fail.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Within those limits, Uppo is provided “as is”. We are not liable for decisions you make based on estimates or answers in the app, for indirect or consequential loss, or for events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Uppo in the 12 months before the claim arose.
[TODO: lawyer to review the liability clause against the consumer law of the governing jurisdiction]
App Store and Google Play
These terms are between you and Uppo, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Your use of the app must also follow the terms of the store you downloaded it from.
[TODO: lawyer to confirm whether Apple's standard EULA applies or these terms replace it, and add the clauses Apple requires for a custom EULA]
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of [TODO: governing law]. Disputes go to the courts of [TODO: jurisdiction and venue]. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and can bring a claim in its courts.
[TODO: add the consumer dispute resolution information required in the governing jurisdiction]
